The Department of Political Science was established in 1983 with the main objective of producing articulate and well-focused graduates in the various units of Political Science. We offer courses on a range of area of specialization both on national and international political affairs. Students are exposed to Governance Systems, Public Policies, Public Administration, Political Behaviour, Political theory, International Relations and Institutional Designs. Courses offered in the Department use a variety of research methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative, and stress written and oral communication so as to increase the analytic skills of our students. The Department prepares students not only to be effective citizens but for a large number of contemporary careers which require analytic thinking and the knowledge of sophisticated research methods. 

Over the years, the Department has expanded its scopes to cater for the needs of candidates who may wish to undertake professional Diplomas, Post Graduate Diplomas and Post Graduate Degree programmes.
