Dr. Kemi Funlayo AKEJU
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
Dr. Kemi Funlayo AKEJU graduated from the Department of Economics, University of Ado Ekiti (now Ekiti State University), Nigeria with Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) degree (Second Class Upper Division) in Economics in 2002. She also obtained the Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Economics in (2011) and a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the same University in 2016. The Ag. HOD is currently a Senior Lecturer with publications in reputable National and International Journals. Her works focus on issues of African development policies and program in areas of poverty, child and maternal health, financial inclusion, inequality, education, gender issues, labour market, and socio-economic dimensions of economic shocks. She has a proven experience in developing micro and macroeconomic models to inform policies to aid strategic plans for advocacy and solution-based research on SDG goals and targets.
She teaches a wide range of graduate courses including Development Economics, Health Economics, Applied Micro Econometrics and Public Finance at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is a member of The Nigerian Economic Society (NES), Development Studies Association (DSA, UK) and presently a country ambassador for the Women in Economics Initiative (WEI).
