Economics is a social science with stakes in many other fields, including political science, geography, mathematics, sociology, psychology, engineering, law, medicine and business. Finding the most rational and efficient way to use resources to achieve personal and societal objectives is the core purpose of economics. It offers an analytical perspective on topics related to economic growth and employment, saving and investing, health, money and the banking system, fiscal and monetary policy, foreign trade, industrial organization and regulation, urbanization, and environmental concerns.

The Department of Economics, Ekiti State University is envisioned to produce high academic standard with appropriate practical knowledge as well as sound theoretical background targeted at making significant impact in the industry. The department is committed to helping students develop their skills and analytical capacities so they can confidently tackle the competition in the business world.
