Political Science is the most interesting and challenging field of the Social Sciences because it deals with all human endeavour. Political Science is a social science with stakes in many other fields, including Public Administration, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Diplomacy, Foreign Policy, Public Policy, Local Government, Economics, Philosophy, Political Sociology, Psychology, Law, Medicine, etc. Political Science is saddled with the core purpose of finding the most rational and effective policy mechanism as the effective and efficient approach in resolving local, national and international phenomenon. It offers theoretical and analytical approach to topics related to human existence.

The Department of Political Science, Faculty of the Social Sciences, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti is envisioned to produce high academic standard with appropriate practical knowledge as well as sound theoretical background targeted at making significant impact in the industry. The Department is committed to helping students develop their skills and analytical capacities to confidently compete in the globalized business world. Also, the Department offers a strong curriculum that prepares students for graduate school or for employment following graduation. Also, the Department instils in our graduates the ability to apply basic knowledge of politics and public policy studies in intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience of learning that could lead to the acquiring of the skills and principles in the various spheres of the Social Sciences and their applications in solving state, national and international problems. Our graduates are strengthened to keep current knowledge and skills in the contemporary and dynamic world.
