As at 2023 Professor Olu-Olu Olufayo has about (30 ) years post qualification working experience as lecturer, researcher, administrator and consultant in tertiary institutions (both private and public) within and outside Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) from University of Benin in 1988, Master of Science (M. Sc. from University of Ilorin in 1991 and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Sociology from the University of Ado-Ekiti in 2002.  Professor Olufayo was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in 1993 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor and chair of Sociology in 2008.This was after a brief stay in Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research, Ibadan as Research Assistant between 1992 and 1993.He was two times Head of Department between 2005-2007 and 2010-2014.

He has served the University Community in various capacities as Level Coordinator, Examination Officer, Committee Member such as Welfare Committee, Staff and Student Disciplinary Committee and University Ceremonies Committee.

He has equally served other University as External Examiners, Visiting Professor, Adjunct/ Part-time Lecturer. He was the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) (2014-2019) Zonal Coordinator of ASUU,2019-2023 and at present the Resource Person of ASUU.

 He is a member of many Professional bodies among which are: the Nigerian Anthropological and Sociological Association (NASA), British Sociological Association (BSA), American Sociological Association (ASA) and the Pan African Anthropological Association (PAAA).

He has over 60 research papers published in reputable peer review national and international journals, and co-authored academic textbooks that cut across various sub-fields such as Theory, Industrial Relations, Methods, Genders, Race and Ethnic Relations, Globalisation among others. A few of his books include :Theoretical Digest in Sociology, Bureaucracy and the Society, Methodological Problems in Sociological Investigation, Social Statistics and Data Processing, Globalisation, Wage Labour and Domestic behaviour, Labour Management and State of Development in Nigeria etc.

Professor Olufayo  was elected as the Dean, Faculty of the Social Sciences in August,2023. He is married with children to Mrs. Olufayo and blessed with Children.
