Welcome to the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management

The Department of Tourism Studies in Ekiti State University is housed in the Faculty of the Social Sciences. The Department is relatively recent in its evolution and establishment. The Department came into existence in year 2017 when the resource verification was conducted by the highly esteemed National Universities Commission.

The Department of Tourism Studies offers learning in the tourism and hospitality aspects of the national economy of Nigeria and other cognate areas of the globe where tourism and hospitality remain entrenched and endemic.

As part of its touristic and hospitality intrinsic quality of tourism and hospitality studies, the Department is inclined to given hope to the hopeless and restoring lost focus to the disenchanted. This is a goal which the Department has pursued vigorously unbiased and without superfluous tendencies. As a harbinger of hope for the hopeless, Department of Tourism Studies has progressively expanded in the numerical strength of students over the years and the trend has never ebbed.

Tourism Studies in the contemporary time has taken up an enviable position among the disparage academic disciplines across the citadel of learning today. The rational is clearly understood due to the fact that tourism and its hospitality adherent have gradually emanated as a vital component of the contributors to national economic growth and development. This position has significantly accounted for the concern accorded the discipline across varied segments of academic curriculum development in institutions where the course is cherished, accommodated and offered.

There is no doubt about it that Ekiti State University is blessed by being counted among the tertiary institutions where this noble course is domiciled. The Faculty of the Social Sciences is also fortunate to have had the Tourism Studies housed under its jurisdiction.

It is our candid believe that the Department of Tourism Studies will continue to wax stronger until its positive spread effects become infectious in every nooks and crannies of both local and national economies.
